Press Tab+C on your keyboard to focus on the comment field.

The followersfollowers of the task will receive a notification of your new comment via email or InboxInbox .

If you draft a comment and forget to submit it, the comment text will be saved as a draft for the next time you visit the task.

To delete a comment:

  1. Hover over the comment and click the drop down arrow that appears
  2. Select Delete Comment

You can only delete your own comments.

Undo Comments

If you need to make any changes to a comment you’ve just posted, you can undo the comment.

To undo a comment:

Click the Undo link immediately after posting the comment.

When you undo a comment, the posted comment will disappear and the comment’s text will reappear in the comment field so you can either delete the entire comment or make edits and repost it.

The undo link will disappear 20 seconds after the comment has been posted.

Pin Comments

If a task has important comments you want everyone to see, you can pin these comments to the top of the task’s Activity Feed in the right paneright pane .

To pin a comment:

  1. Select Pin from Top

Once a comment is pinned, it will appear twice in the activity feed:

  1. Pinned to the very top
  2. Inline in descending chronological order with other task updates

Pinned comments are also indicated by a yellow marker.

Unpin Comments

  1. Select Unpin to Top

Activity Feed

A variety of actions create task activity feed stories, including task creation, description changes, name changes, due date changes, assigneeassignee The person responsible for the task or subtask. Asana allows one assignee per task or subtask. Read more changes, SectionSection Sections let teams organize your task lists. Divide projects or My Tasks list based on category, workflow stage, or priority. Read more changes, and more.

A history of the actions taken on that task will appear among the comments in the right paneright pane .

Attachments

You can upload a file to any Asana task from the right pane.

From a Computer

To attach a file that you have saved on your computer, you have two options:

Browse:

  1. Click the paperclip icon
  2. Select From Computer and browse for the file

Drag & Drop:

Drag the file anywhere from your desktop and drop it on the right paneright pane of the task.

Once you attach a file, it will appear in:

  1. The attachments field of the task
  2. The activity feed of the task

Attachment Limits

There is a 100MB per file limit for attachments from your computer. If you have a larger file, consider attaching it from Dropbox or Google Drive.

There is no storage limit for the number of files you can upload.

Attachment Integrations

You can attach files from Box, Dropbox, or Google Drive directly into Asana tasks.

Each of these integrations have their own set of permissions associated to their files. Our integration does not change your files’ permissions whatsoever, so you may also need to share the file with your colleagues after attaching it to a task.

To attach from an external application:

  1. Select one of the three options and a new window will popup allowing you to log into that respective account. Login and choose the file you wish to attach.

If you are logged in to multiple Google accounts on your computer, you can select which Google Drive account to attach files from, regardless of which Google account is currently associated to your Asana account.

Via Mobile

Attach files via our AndroidAndroid app by taking a photo or using files from your phone or Google Drive.

For iOSiOS devices, it is only possible to upload photos.

To delete an attachment:

Hover over the attachment’s name in the right pane and click the icon that appears.
